The Quiet Start of Everything

Quote that inspired this piece:

When a buried dream begins to resurface, it doesn’t shout — it lifts its head slowly, to see if you are ready. – Anon

My poem for this painting:

Your dream was never gone.
It did not leave in disappointment,
did not turn away,
did not require pursuit.

It learned your seasons.
It patiently watched as you carried what you had to carry,
as you chose safety, steadiness, survival.
It waited — it understood,
with the kind of knowing
that trusts its moment will come.

It does not arrive with urgency.
It does not demand proof.
It does not ask you to be braver
than you already are.

It returns when there is room.
When your hands are no longer clenched.
When your breath softens.
When something in you quietly says,
I think I can listen now.

Readiness is not something you earn.
It is something that opens.

And so the dream lifts its head again —
not to rush you,
not to pull you forward,
but simply to see
if you are ready to receive
what has always belonged to you.

This is the quiet start of everything.
