This series speaks to the moment a long-held dream stops feeling distant —
When the life you've quietly longed for begins to take shape in your world.
When what once felt impossible starts showing signs of becoming real.
Each work marks the beginning of a woman stepping into her own becoming.
Alongside my paintings runs The Turning Point — a serialised story of awakening centred on Evangeline Hart.
Evangeline is a woman who has spent years being everything everyone else needed: a devoted wife, a capable professional, a woman whose life appears successful from the outside.
But over time, without ever quite meaning to, she has placed her own dreams at the end of a long line of other people’s needs.
When an unexpected invitation from Paris opens another world, Evangeline begins to give herself permission to reach towards the life — and the woman — she has quietly longed to become.
What begins as a single uncertain step becomes a journey of courage, self-trust and the unfolding possibility of a life far larger than she had ever imagined could be hers. With every brave choice, Evangeline begins to act on the dreams she once set aside — and finds herself stepping into a world she had believed was only meant for other people.
Each chapter of her story unfolds in words and through the paintings — in the women, flowers, hidden symbols and beautiful objects that appear throughout my collections.

Meet Joanna
I’m Joanna Blair, an Australian fine artist and storyteller creating narrative paintings about beauty, transformation and the quiet courage of becoming.
My work brings together symbolic florals, portraiture, hidden details and beautiful objects, each carrying part of a larger emotional world. Alongside the paintings, I write The Turning Point — an ongoing story of awakening that unfolds through Evangeline Hart’s journey.
Through both words and paint, I create a world for women drawn to beauty, story and the possibility of becoming more fully themselves.
